Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate PRN PACU Registered Nurse to join our perioperative team at Clay County Medical Center. The PACU RN provides safe, high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural anesthesia. This role requires strong assessment skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment.

• Provide post-anesthesia nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and evidence-based standards
• Monitor and assess patients’ airway, vital signs, pain level, and level of consciousness
• Identify and respond promptly to post-operative complications
• Administer medications and IV therapies as ordered
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and perioperative staff
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions
• Assist with emergency situations as needed throughout the hospital

Required:

• Current RN license in the state of practice (or compact license eligible)
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS, PALS and ACLS certification
• Minimum of 1–2 years of PACU, ICU, ER, or critical care experience
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
