Job Overview
We are recruiting Forensic and Clinical Psychologists at the New Mexico Department of Health, Behavioral Health Institute in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Salary: up to $191,200+.
Ideal Candidate- Experience with interdisciplinary treatment plan assessments;
- Experience preparing legal documentation;
- Experience with policies, procedures, and processes for patient care;
- Experience with guardianship appointments for patients.
This role does not include additional compensation accrued or paid for on-call service. License-eligible applicants may apply. A health professional loan‑repayment program exists with the New Mexico Higher Education Department. The hospital is approximately 65 miles from Santa Fe and 75 miles from Taos, NM. Benefits include 11 paid holidays, 2 paid personal days per year, multiple medical coverage plans, dental and vision coverage, with 80% of healthcare premiums paid by the state.
A defined‑benefit pension plan is offered at a 2.5% accrual rate with vesting after 5 years of employment. Licensed psychologists employed full‑time at the state hospital are eligible for a $5,000 rural health care practitioner income tax credit.

Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Psychologist Examiners and having three years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification, any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three years may substitute for the required experience.
