The Patient Transporter is responsible for safely transporting inpatients and outpatients within a hospital setting, assisting patients and healthcare staff. This role requires basic life support certification, proficiency with medical transport equipment, and the ability to work under stressful conditions while managing multiple assignments. Physical demands include frequent lifting and maneuvering of patients and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY: Transports inpatients and outpatients to and from their destinations safely within the hospital. Assists patients and patient care staff.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School or equivalent required.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued through American Heart Association required, or must be attained within two weeks of employment.
SKILLS:
- Ability to learn to use the following:
- Wheelchairs
- Gurneys
- electric beds
- cell phones
- digital pagers
- Effective human relations skills
- Ability to retain composure under stress, to move quickly but effectively to meet patient care needs
- Time management skills to manage a high volume of assignments as expeditiously as possible
EXPERIENCE: Prior related work experience in medical environment preferred.

Responsible to: Manager, Radiology
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne Pathogen C
Exposure to various body fluids, infections and contagious diseases.
Appropriate universal precautions protection must be used at all times
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Subject to stressful professional relationships. Working hours vary, with flexibility needed to meet unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies. Stooping/Bending: frequently, Squatting/Crouching: occasionally, Crawling/Kneeling: occasionally, Manual dexterity: continuously, Standing: occasionally, Walking: continuously, Lifting/Pushing/Pulling:
