Certified Anesthesia Technician – Full‑time

The Certified Anesthesia Technician provides comprehensive support to anesthesia providers in the operating room and other clinical areas. Responsibilities include preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, postoperative duties, emergency response, and general maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide preoperative preparation and intraoperative support for anesthesia teams.
- Assist with postoperative care and emergency response.
- Maintain anesthesia machines, monitoring systems, and sterile supplies.
- Perform troubleshooting and minor maintenance of equipment.
- Coordinate with surgical staff to ensure workflow efficiency.
- High School Diploma required;
Associate’s degree preferred. - Courses in medical terminology and basic physiology preferred.
- Anesthesia Technician Certification required; BLS through American Heart Association preferred.
- One year of direct patient contact as an Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, or related clinical experience.
- Strong understanding of anesthesia equipment, procedures, and sterile techniques.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and minor equipment maintenance.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Knowledge of anesthesiology equipment care, operation, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of patient‑care standards and safe practice in the anesthetic environment.
- Effective interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and technical learning aptitude.
- Basic computer skills and ability to prioritize.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to function well under stress and perform minor technical repairs.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating verbally in English.
- Reports to:
Director/Manager of Surgical Services. - Work involves exposure to blood borne pathogens; universal precautions mandatory.
- Employee will be instructed in universal precautions and Right to Know.
- Protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital; protective equipment usage required.
- Full range of motion including lifting and handling patients and equipment.
- Heavy (≥50 lbs.) physical effort to position, push, or transfer patients or equipment; lifting and pushing carts, boxes, and equipment.
- Prolonged standing/walking; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Possible chemical exposures.
