Description
The Cardiovascular Sonographer will perform diagnostic cardiovascular ultrasound studies and provide written technical impressions to assist cardiologists with interpretations.
RequirementsEDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. Two-year allied health education program that is patient care related or Certification from a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Program.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Certification; or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) Certification required, or Registered Vascular Tech (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS). Dual registry in cardiac and vascular highly preferred.
SKILLS: Must possess strong organizational, time management, detail and communication skills; the ability to prioritize projects and work in a fast-paced, frequently crisis-driven environment. Basic computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, and typing. Must be able to provide complicated information in a clear and concise manner to those not familiar with the information being provided. Bilingual in Spanish or local Native languages a plus.
Ability to work collaboratively with others from a variety of disciplines. Data collection, problem solving, and decision-making skills required.
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience performing 2D, stress, and dobutamine stress echocardiograms preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION: Responsible to:
Office Manager.
ENVIRONMENT: May be exposed to physical injury, infectious diseases, and airborne and blood-borne pathogens. Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious diseases.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: On a regular basis:
Sitting, fingering or manual dexterity as in the use of computer; filing and sorting documents; repetitive finger motion as in typing or computer use; converse with public using the spoken and written word, to hear and see those for which there is interaction; work with documents formatted using small print and complicated grids. On a frequent basis:
Distance and peripheral vision. On an occasional basis:
Ability to walk and stand; lift or exert force up to 10 pounds, reach or stretch; crouch and stoop; depth perception, and exposure to loud noise levels.
