The Council invests across global public and private markets to generate long-term, risk‑adjusted returns for New Mexico’s citizens.
Position OverviewThe NMSIC is seeking a highly analytical and research‑driven Public Equity Analyst to support the management, evaluation, and oversight of the Council’s global public equity investment portfolios. The Public Equity Analyst will conduct company‑ and sector‑level research, evaluate external public equity managers, perform quantitative and qualitative analysis, and contribute to portfolio construction decisions.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct fundamental research on public companies, industries, and global market trends
- Monitor and evaluate external equity managers
- Build valuation models and perform scenario and sensitivity analyses
- Prepare written investment memos, presentations, and performance reviews
- Perform portfolio exposure analysis, risk factor assessments, and performance attribution
- Support due diligence for public equity managers
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and rebalancing activities
- Contribute to strategic portfolio planning and asset allocation studies
- Monitor global economic, geopolitical, and regulatory developments
- Ensure compliance with investment policies and fiduciary standards
- Maintain documentation, reports, and research files
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field
- 2–5 years of investment research or equity analysis experience
- Understanding of financial statements and valuation techniques
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Bloomberg or Fact Set preferred
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information
- CFA charter holder or active candidate
- Experience with institutional portfolios or public funds
- Experience evaluating external managers
- Strong knowledge of global equity markets and macroeconomic trends
