Base pay: $115,000 - $165,000 per year (subject to experience and skills)

To be responsible for the profitability, ethics and scientific investigation of events, systems, devices or failures, and to provide expert opinions and leadership on complex engineering assignments.

• Provide guidance and leadership to colleagues on complex engineering assignments.
• Survey property, casualty and liability losses at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes.
• Conduct investigations to determine root cause of events and failures.
• Work with engineers and investigators to produce detailed reports, drawings and outlines that explain the cause and origin of losses and damages.
• Develop plans, reports and drawings to meet client needs and document failure analysis.
• Provide expert testimony in court of law and during depositions.
• Determine applicable engineering practices to fulfill prescribed scope, timelines and cost estimates.
• Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and client stakeholders to develop demand for professional services.
• Collaborate with national forensic experts to exchange experience and support projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Support the organization’s quality program(s).

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
• Eight (8) years of combined experience and education, including two (2) years of failure analysis and forensic engineering and two (2) years in insurance and/or risk management industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication, analytical and interpretive skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to work independently or in a team to meet performance competencies.

Physical:
Stand, walk, and sit for long periods; kneel, squat or bend; work outdoors in hot or cold weather; reach, climb, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds; push, pull up to 100 pounds; drive up to 4 hours per day.

Mental:
Clear and conceptual thinking, good judgment and discretion, ability to handle work‑related stress, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Auditory/Visual:
Hearing, vision, and speaking required.
