Posting Details
Facilities Management Division is responsible for management of more than 6.8 million square feet of space in over 800 buildings with an estimated replacement value of nearly $1.5 billion. The Division's Capital Projects Bureau manages capital projects of varying size throughout the state utilizing both in-house resources and contracted services to perform duties and responsibilities related to construction project management. Projects include the development and construction of new buildings and major renovations and improvements, as well as alterations, redesigning, and remodeling or reconstruction of state buildings under FMD's jurisdiction.

Why does the job exist?
The FMD Construction Project Manager will assist the FMD Capital Projects Bureau Chief in providing the State of NM and the Facilities Management Division with the highest value in design and construction by providing technical and administrative functions related to the architectural, engineering and construction activities in completion of capital improvement projects
statewide. The position will be involved in all phases of facilities management, construction management and administration, development and design, administration of contract/construction documents, capital outlay for projects and construction operations in the deployment of capital projects statewide.
How does it get done?
Responsibilities Include:
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver construction projects for state agencies under FMD oversight.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget and in compliance.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Lead and participate in pre-construction, construction, safety and post construction meetings.
- Maintain project documentation, prepare progress reports and manage project closeout, including final inspections and warranty coordination.

All executive branch state agencies under FMD's jurisdiction, political subdivisions, local governments and the general public.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experienced construction project manager able to independently deliver projects from pre-design through closeout.
- Solid knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and cost controls.
- Experience with publicly funded or publicly owned capital projects preferred.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with accurate documentation.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering and eight (8) years of experience in architectural design, project management or construction management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain valid NM Driver License. Must obtain Defensive Driving certification once employed.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a combination of office and field environments. Office work involves extensive use of a computer, visual display terminals, and standard office equipment, as well as frequent phone and video communication. Field work includes regular visits to active construction sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, noise, dust, and typical construction related hazards. The position requires adherence to established safety protocols and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment when on job sites.
The position requires travel to project sites, meetings, and training locations. Work may involve standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, and inspecting construction activities. Periodic extended or irregular hours may be required to meet project deadlines or address construction related issues.
