Senior Purchasing Coordinator (DOH/ITSD #10750) – New Mexico Department of Health
Pay Band C7 – $26.57 - $39.86 hourly or $55,273 - $82,909 annually
Why does the job exist?The Senior Purchasing Coordinator is part of the Administrative Support Team for the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). This position provides specialized contract management support services—including preparation, negotiation, and review of professional and technical services contracts—performing the full range of duties involved in the procurement or contract process and direct operations within ITSD. The role ensures compliance with local, state, federal, and other regulatory guidelines that impact business operations, and is responsible for fiscal information, procurement, and budget review, including creating purchase orders, vouchers and journal entries.
Howdoes it get done?
Manages complex purchase requests using multiple funding sources and federal grants; analyzes purchase requests and available budget; audits contracts, routes for approval and creates supporting documentation; tracks purchases, processes invoices, creates journal entries; generates budget reports, reviews budget and accounting reports; processes travel requests/vehicle fleet; attends regular staff meetings and responds to emails and phone calls.
Who are the customers?This position supports all of the Department of Health, with some inter‑agency collaborations.

- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel
- Familiarity with State of New Mexico Procurement Processes
- Familiarity with State of New Mexico financial management system (SHARE)
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting and Finance and one (1) year of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Five (5) years of combined education and experience may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Working ConditionsWork performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminals (VDT), extensive computer and telephone usage. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
