The Engineering Manager will supervise the manufacturing engineers from a technical perspective and manage their work load. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for supervising manufacturing engineering functions of the company. These include implementing stable and robust manufacturing processes in the areas of metal forming, heat treatment, NDT and CNC machining. The EM will oversee the creating and maintaining manufacturing work instructions with bills of materials, tool/fixture design, research & development projects, and lean as well as cost reduction initiatives through the manufacturing engineering team.
Summaryof Duties
- Directs, develops, mentors and manages a team of manufacturing engineers
- Supervises the manufacturing engineers in the creation of product planning documents (detailed operational instructions, support drawings) for the manufacturing processes and multi-level bills of material
- Oversees design and manufacturing of all tooling needed for the manufacturing activities
- Develops and maintains engineering systems and programs, such as polices and best practices
- Collaborates with Manufacturing and Quality functions to create systems and procedures to ensure products meet customer requirements and achieve operational efficiency
- Coordinates with Marketing on proposals for customers and any technical communication and reports
- Ensures conformance of Engineering processes and procedures to AS9100
- Drives the success of new product introduction
- Provides engineering support for problem analysis, failure investigation and corrective action
- Co-ordinate lean and continuous improvement initiatives with the operations team
- Recommends new technologies and improvements to manufacturing activities through capital improvements
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
EducationBS or MS in Manufacturing Engineering, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field
Experience, knowledge and skillsA manufacturing engineering professional with 10 years of overall experience, with 3-5 years’ experience in managing an engineering department in an aerospace manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge from a metal based manufacturing environment using metal forming (swaging, flow forming, forging), heat treat, NDT and CNC machining 4 and 5-axis. Familiarity with Inventor and Master CAM/Vericut software would be helpful.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including 6S concepts, VSM, SPC, Standard Work etc.
- Base salary in the range of $130k - $150k
- Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
- Company contributes approximately 15% of total compensation towards retirement in the form of equity through the ESOP
Salary Personnel work 9 hour workdays, Monday through Friday
