Full-time Intermediate Care Ward Assistant
Pet Vet Care Centers' Pacific & Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialists is currently seeking an Intermediate Care Ward Assistant to join their team.

Responsibilities- administer care to post-op patients in Recovery and patients in Isolation; assist with Surgery, Isolation, ICU and ER dismissals
- check in with the treatment lead at shift start and maintain open communication throughout the day; request assistance as needed
- familiarize with daily staff and schedule; coordinate lunch breaks with the lead to ensure patient coverage
- review census and assist with ICU needs as directed by the treatment lead
- complete rounds on Recovery and Isolation patients; document treatments on flow sheets as directed by the DVM
- prepare kennels and beds for upcoming surgeries; assist ICU when patients transition between areas
- assist with dismissals from ICU, Recovery and Isolation; communicate plans if you cannot complete dismissals due to time constraints
- provide coverage for ICU lunch and assist with callbacks as available
- restrain animals safely and compassionately during examinations, treatments, and procedures
- prep patients for procedures (TPR, place IVC, start IVF, administer pre-meds, shave as needed)
- know prescription procedures, in-house medication filling, calling external pharmacies, and recording in Cornerstone and our online pharmacy
- perform routine in-house laboratory procedures and appropriately prepare specimens
- create lab forms and ensure proper lab maintenance as a team responsibility
- take radiographs following safety procedures and PPE guidelines
- ensure recovery cleaning lists are completed daily
- maintain isolation room cleanliness and readiness for the next shift
- follow cleaning protocols after patient discharge from isolation
- 4 Shifts Monday – Sunday, including 1 weekend shift per week and some holidays

Pay Range: $22 — $26 USD
