Job Summary & Responsibilities

As our Staff RN, you will deliver compassionate, high‑quality care that truly impacts patients’ well‑being and recovery. Every day you will use your expertise to provide individualized, comprehensive care, make critical assessments, perform skilled procedures, and collaborate seamlessly within an interdisciplinary team focused on optimal outcomes.

  • Perform psychosocial/physiologic assessments that integrate changing data.
  • Formulate a plan of care based on trends of similar patients, including patient education and discharge planning; collaborate with patients/families to identify realistic desired outcomes.
  • Administer prescribed medications and intravenous solutions according to standards of care and hospital protocols.
  • Assess pain level in all patients using "0‑10", "Faces", or other approved scales; provide timely/appropriate assessment or intervention and identify comfort function goals with patients.
  • Tailor and prioritize caring practice to individual needs, including cultural, ethical, and spiritual aspects; participate in planning routine transitional health care needs and adapt standards and guidelines for individual patients.
  • Report significant observed or reported alterations in the patient's condition in a timely manner.
  • Adapt planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content; integrate education during the delivery of patient care.
  • Ensure efficiency in the delivery of care by determining immediate priorities and offering solutions for problems.
  • Make independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
  • Actively advocate for patient rights, identify potential conflict, and seek counsel for resolution.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and make revisions in the plan of care; identify variances from expected outcomes.
  • Document all patient care activities as per documentation standards; assist the healthcare team with the documentation process.
  • Label lab specimens with a zero‑tolerance policy for mislabeled specimens.
  • Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others, respecting and understanding other clinical disciplines, and use an integrated approach toward patient outcomes.
  • Consistently collaborate with the health‑care team members, patients, and families to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Keep informed of unit initiatives and incorporate the outcomes of team or committee work into practice.
  • Participate on unit teams, work groups, and/or committees; demonstrate willingness to give 100% and voluntarily assist others.
  • Work with the team to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Utilize standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery; incorporate data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and incorporate research findings into nursing practice.
  • Assume responsibility for self‑development in lifelong learning; provide direction and guidance to others regarding practice; serve as a resource, preceptor, and mentor; demonstrate leadership skills in decision making and problem solving.
  • Identify own learning needs based on self‑evaluation and progress made from the previous year's goals.
  • Demonstrate evidence of a minimum of 20 hours of self‑development activities with a minimum of 6 formal contact hours (beyond orientation/fellowship program); maintain an Employee Continuing Education Record.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor health‑care team members, displaying leadership behaviors.
Job Requirements
  • Associate of Nursing and a minimum of six months experience in the Operating Room, scrub and circulating, upon hire.
  • Completion of a post‑graduate course in the Operating Room, upon hire.
  • Registered Nurse:
    California, upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support – CPR, upon hire.
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Nursing, upon hire.
