JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Boating Director, the Boating Instructor teaches recreational boating lessons for physical education and community classes.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

Budgeted Salary: By Agreement. $25/hour.
Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.

JOB DUTIES

100% - Boating Instruction

  • Plans, organizes and implements recreational programs.
  • Keeps current on instructional methods, techniques and skills through continuing education.
  • Leads groups of participants in a variety of recreational boating activities.
  • Reports safety issues to appropriate personnel and recommends improvements.
  • Implements program policies and procedures.
  • Maintains files, records and prepares reports as necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and / or equivalent certification / experience / training.
  • Creative thinking skills and ability to develop original ideas to resolve issues and solve problems.
  • Highly effective verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Highly effective written communication skills in the English language.
  • Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties.
  • Specialized knowledge of program activity and industry best practices.
