JOB SUMMARY
This is a summer‑only live‑in position that oversees the residential program and staff of the California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS) program. The coordinator works primarily with high school students (legal minors) and provides full‑range support within a Student Life specialization.
LOCATION & SCHEDULERemote to start, then UC Santa Cruz Main Campus (residing overnight in campus dorm during work shift). Part‑time (up to 8 hrs/week) from mid‑April to June 26th, followed by full‑time (40 hrs/week) from June 27th to August 5th, 2026.

: $5,934.00/month (proportionate to time worked). Benefits: not eligible.

The Educational Partnership Center (EPC) provides a range of school‑centered and student‑centered activities, collaborating with schools, community colleges and universities to promote educational pathways.
JOB DUTIES20% – Residential Advising and Development
- Provide ongoing transformational residential advising and development to student participants and undergraduate student Residential Advisors in COSMOS.
- Consult student leaders on complex and sensitive issues, supporting and mentoring them in project formulation.
- Guide students in interacting with campus leaders and represent students where appropriate; coach on communication and leadership skills.
20% – Support Services
- Independently provide the full range of support services for student programs from planning and preparation to implementation, including academic support and scheduling.
20% – Training RA Staff
- Plan, implement, and participate in comprehensive training and education for the student staff team, including ongoing development and in‑service training.
- Provide guidance and training for new and returning staff members, facilitating individual and group meetings.
- Attend all residential team meetings, training, sponsored social programs, and retreats.
15% – Supervision
- Train and supervise student residential staff; monitor employment standards and provide evaluative feedback.
- Assist staff with personal and professional development and achievement of learning goals.
- Set a standard of ethical behavior for the team.
15% – Student Conduct
- Participate in adjudication of moderate‑complexity student conduct cases.
- Interview witnesses, document findings, provide guidance to lower‑level staff, consult higher‑level professionals, and recommend sanctions.
10% – Residential Duties
- Reside in the dorm (including overnight) on all scheduled working days.
- Respond to critical needs at any time, including medical needs within the scope of certification, and transport students, staff, or faculty as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
- Knowledge of advising, counseling, and/or coaching techniques.
- Experience with advising, counseling, or coaching high school‑aged students.
- Knowledge of Student Affairs / Student Life specialization.
- Experience with program development, implementation, and operations.
- Experience managing a team of more than five individuals.
- Experience working with a residential program.
- Strong project management, problem identification, and reasoning skills.
- Ability to develop original solutions to problems.
