Position title: Biomolecular Engineering Pre‑six Lecturer
Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five‑credit course is $9,986–$20,908 (based on salary points 5‑30). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.
Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.
Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit’s instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2025 through fall quarter 2026. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.
Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

Position DescriptionThe Department of Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers. Course topics include, but are not limited to, all areas of biomolecular engineering: bioethics, bioinformatics, biotechnology, computational biology tools, genomics, bioengineering, analysis of RNA/DNA high‑throughput sequencing, single‑cell analysis, population genomics, synthetic biology, nanotechnology, programming for the biosciences, protein engineering, and systems biology.
Outstanding candidates with experience to teach courses in one or more of the above areas are encouraged to apply. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties. Appointments are temporary positions with end dates and generally made one quarter at a time, based on the changing curricular needs of the department.
Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at the time of application)- M.S. (or equivalent foreign degree) in biomolecular engineering or closely related field such as biotechnology, or bioinformatics.
