Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Associate Director, CA Outreach and Engagement, the Transfer Admissions Representative (TAR) conducts outreach and advising activities to prospective high school and transfer students interested in applying to UC Santa Cruz. The incumbent builds relationships to increase awareness of UCSC’s brand and enrollment numbers of targeted student populations. The representative shares information about the UC Santa Cruz educational experience and admissions requirements during school visits, appointments, workshops, and student receptions.
While the primary focus is California, the TAR also participates in outreach across the United States and international audiences.
The representative plans, develops, and implements recruitment strategies, evaluates their effectiveness, and assists with hiring, training, and supervising student staff. Liaison activities involve collaboration with academic prep programs, community-based organizations, and UC collaboratives to broaden pathways to UCSC. They staff local, state, national, and international recruitment fairs and conferences, representing the UC system and campus partners such as Alumni Association, University Relations, Financial Aid, and academic divisions.
The TAR evaluates academic records and transfer credit from internal and external institutions, determining eligibility to the University of California and performing course‑by‑course evaluations for transfer credits.
Appointment Information- Budgeted Salary: $69,000 – $74,750 annually (commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience).

- 30% – Prospective Student Liaison: Serves as primary liaison for students and parents at high schools and California community colleges. Plans visits, gives presentations, and provides group and individual advising, sharing in‑depth information about admissions, majors, financial aid, and related topics.
- 20% – Evaluation of Freshman and Transfer Applications: Assesses applicants’ records and readiness for admission, researching domestic and foreign educational systems and performing course‑by‑course transfer credit evaluations.
- 15% – Student Worker Supervision and Training: Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises student staff involved in recruitment.
- 10% – Event Coordination: Plans, manages, and implements domestic and some international recruiting events. Recommends program improvements.
- 10% – Evaluation of Materials from Admitted Students: Participates in application review, transcript clearing, coding, and documentation of decisions, supporting articulation processes.
- 5% – Student Data Entry and Processing: Uses CRM and database tools to analyze outreach effectiveness.

Activities:
