About the RoleภThe Principal Software Engineer – Mobile Applications will serve as a technical leader and‑hands‑on developer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced Android and cross‑platform mobile applications for implantable medical devices. This role blends technical expertise with team leadership to ensure delivery of secure, high‑quality, compliant medical software in accordance with FDA and ISO 13485 standards. Work is conducted under a hybrid model, requiring presence in the local office at least three days per week.

- Lead the architecture, design, and development of mobile applications for implantable medical devices using Kotlin Multiplatform and Core Java.
- Ensure secure communication between devices and cloud systems via Bluetooth Low Energygesetzt (BLE) and AWS‑based APIs.
- Develop and maintain libraries and SDKs for cross‑platform mobile applications. Integrate mobile applications with AWS cloud infrastructure (KMS, S3, Dynamo
- Author and review key design documentation: architecture specs, DFMEA, cybersecurity reports, threat models.
- Conduct peer reviews and maintain code integrity, ensuring traceability and compliance per medical device process.
- Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies, mentoring distributed teams across time zones (U.S., Costa Rica, India, China, Ukraine).
- Estimate timelines, propose plans, review milestones, and lead application development from concept through commercialization.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Android mobile app development, with at least 3 years in medical device applications.
- Experience architecting, designing, and developing mobile applications.
- Strong command of Kotlin, Kotlin Multiplatform, Java, and Android Jetpack architectures (MVVM, Rx, XML data binding).
- 3+ years of experience with AWS services and secure communication protocols (BLE, Wi‑Fi, HTTPS, OAuth).
- Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins, Git), Sonar Qube, and Atlassian Agile tools.
- Good understanding of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and FDA design controls for medical device software.
- Demonstrated leadership in cross‑functional R&D environments and distributed global teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams and produce regulatory documentation.
- Experience developing mobile apps for neuromodulation devices.
- Prior experience with medical device connectivity.
- Prior experience on secure cnage BLE communication, data encryption, and integration with AWS cloud services (S3, Dynamo
DB, Cognito, API Gateway). - Experience in cybersecurity techniques (sandboxing, code obfuscation, penetration testing).
- Exposure to data science or machine learning frameworks (Tensor Flow, Pandas, Num Py, R).
Requisition
Minimum Salary: $103,700
Maximum Salary: $197,000
