Job Summary
We are seeking motivated Structured Cabling Technicians for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role involves installing, supporting, and maintaining structured cabling infrastructure for commercial and government environments. The ideal candidate has prior experience in cabling or related trades and is eager to grow into advanced roles, such as Project Foreman. Training and career development opportunities are available to support professional growth.
Job Responsibilities- Install and route copper cabling (CAT5e/CAT6) to IT closets, modular furniture, and work area outlets
- Perform cable pathway installations, including J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and ladder racks
- Organize, dress, label, and bundle cabling in accordance with industry standards
- Terminate cables at patch panels, jacks, and modular plugs
- Assist with IT closet builds, including MDF and IDF rooms, racks, ladder racks, and sleeves
- Install wireless access points and related hardware
- Support testing and verification of installed cabling
- Read and follow basic blueprints, drawings, and installation documentation
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, compliant jobsite, including OSHA standards and proper PPE use
- High School Diploma or GED
- One to two years of hands-on experience in structured cabling, low-voltage systems, or electrical/construction trades
- Familiarity with cable pulling, termination, and/or electrical conduit work
- OSHA 10 certification or higher preferred
- BICSI Installer 1 or 2 certification preferred
- Scissor lift or aerial lift certification preferred
- Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and remain on feet for extended periods
- Ownership of a basic tool set, including screwdrivers, torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers, punch-down tool, crimper, flashlight, work boots, gloves, and tool pouch
