The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full‑time Maintenance/Facilities Lead (VLC and CCC) in the Facilities Services division.

Salary Placement:

Placement is on Range 43 of Classified Represented Salary Schedule

B. Initial step placement for new employees is typically Step 1, 2, or 3 ($6,984.00 / $7,395.00 / $7,824.00 per month) of this 20‑step range.

The probationary period is six months. This is a 12‑month, 40‑hour per week position. The role includes paid holidays, discretionary days, sick leave, and accrual of ten vacation days in the first year. A regular work schedule will be assigned, with occasional flexibility allowed with supervisor approval.

Position Description

Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President, Maintenance and Grounds, this position performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and alteration of District buildings, facilities, and fixtures, including carpentry, painting, plastering, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical trades. The role supports both the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses and assists with administrative duties for Maintenance. Performs related duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties

Administrative and Leadership Duties

  • Assists the Associate Vice President, Maintenance and Grounds with administrative functions, including meeting with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates repair and project schedules from initiation through completion, including oversight of outside contractors.
  • Maintains inventory records for supplies, materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Responds to inquiries and recommends facility repairs or improvements.
  • Supports scheduling, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair/replacement of automated lighting controls, air compressors, and fire panels.
  • Assists with hazardous waste and chemical handling/disposal in compliance with regulations.
  • Tracks and manages purchase requisitions, processes purchase orders, monitors invoices, and maintains expenditure records for blanket/open POs.
  • Assists with authorized overtime scheduling and implementation.
  • Provides guidance and direction to short‑term, student, or temporary employees.

Skilled Trades Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled work in carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical, plumbing, and flooring repair.
  • Constructs, installs, and maintains structures including roofs and fences.
  • Assembles and installs prefabricated furniture.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs gas, water, sewer, and storm drain lines.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots HVAC systems and controls.
  • Installs and repairs door locks and closures.
  • Performs welding, soldering, pipe threading, and metalsmithing for equipment repair and fabrication.
