Summary of Position:

The Heart of the House team member's primary objective is to prepare food items using the correct method to ensure the desired outcome in Taste, Texture, Quality, Yield, and Appearance. Keeps work area and equipment clean and organized and assists in other areas of the kitchen as needed. Follows all safety guidelines and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a team and guest focus while performing duties. Demonstrate respect and loyalty to the entire team every shift. Work collaboratively with Heart of the House and Front of the House team members to achieve common goals.
  • Serve with a positive attitude.
  • Understand and contribute to achieving the company's mission statement.
  • Ensure correct preparation of food products as per the Production Book.
  • Operate all kitchen equipment safely, learning about each before use.
  • Adhere to all health department and sanitation standards.
  • Label food products according to health standards and company policies.
  • Handle food to minimize time in the Temperature Danger Zone.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Handle food carefully to prevent waste.
  • Communicate with the Kitchen Manager regarding product needs.
  • Attend scheduled team meetings and contribute suggestions for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist as needed to ensure smooth restaurant operations, always following safety standards.
  • Demonstrate personal ethics, values, and commitment in the work environment.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others. A happiness to serve is essential.
  • Clear communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in reading in English or Spanish.
  • Ability to follow recipes, use scales, and measuring tools accurately.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; team lifting for heavier weights.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, up to 12 hours on occasion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hot, humid, and loud environment.
  • Corrected hearing and vision to normal ranges.
  • California Food Handler certification (must be obtained before starting and maintained throughout employment).
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
Uniform Requirements:
  • Clean, non-slip shoes
  • Socks
  • Clean black non-denim pants
  • Company-supplied shirt and apron
  • Hairnet or hat (company hat only)
  • Daily bathing and deodorant use
  • Protective gear as required by the company
Compensation:

$16.50-$17.00 per hour plus tips
