Overview

Primary responsibilities include delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, handling sales at the register, and assisting the pharmacist under direct supervision with pharmacy-related tasks in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Register sales on assigned cash register; provide courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy; use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Customer Experience
  • Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • Operations
  • Provide courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.
  • Recommend items for sale and suggest trade-up or companion items.
  • Register purchases, handle cash and change; process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges; assist customers in locating products.
  • Maintain clean, merchandised counters and shelves; take inventory and price merchandise as directed.
  • Assist with pharmacy-related duties: enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, verify accuracy, check for interactions, and support workflow as directed by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager.
  • Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty; comply with policies related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program; adhere to the Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies during dispensing activities.
  • Handle telephone calls not requiring the pharmacist’s personal attention.
  • Process manual claims for third-party prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities and maintain knowledge of asset protection; file claims for shortages, overages, order errors, or damaged Rx drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
  • Construct and maintain displays; complete resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assist with separation of food items and product placement; rotate stock using FIFO; restock items as needed.
  • Have working knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area (digital passport photos, poster prints, and promotional photo products).
  • Own web pickup responsibilities (monitor orders, fulfill items, and deliver orders when ready).
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to maintain a clean, neat store condition and appearance.
  • Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earns and maintains PTCB certification through designated training or state requirements.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs as requested; maintain knowledge in healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in a retail environment preferred.
  • Prior Walgreens experience preferred.
  • Good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
  • PTCB certification preferred.
