The PositionReporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) provides strategic and operational leadership for key areas of nursing and patient care services, including Acute Care, Critical Care, Telemetry, Maternal/Child Health, Emergency Services, and Nursing Administration.
Serving as a member of the senior leadership team, the ACNO collaborates with executive leaders, department directors, physicians, and staff to ensure the highest standards of clinical quality, safety, and patient experience. This role is responsible for advancing nursing practice, aligning operational performance with organizational strategy, and fostering an engaged, high-performing workforce.
The ACNO will be a visible, hands-on leader—one who models integrity, promotes accountability, and inspires confidence across all levels of the hospital.

Experience/QualificationsEducation:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
- Master’s degree in a related field required
- Doctoral degree in a related field preferred
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Certification in area of specialty preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience
- Minimum of seven (7) years of leadership experience at the Clinical Director level or above
- Proven success managing patient care services in a complex hospital environment
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, including Title 22
- Expertise in leadership, performance improvement, budgeting, and workforce development
- Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead through collaboration, adaptability, and accountability
A competitive compensation package will be offered for the selected candidate, including $225K +- base salary plus incentive compensation, retirement, benefits, relocation/sign-on bonus.
