Overview
We are accepting applications for the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Adjunct Instructor Applicant Pool. Adjunct pools are open on a fiscal year basis for continuous recruitment for department assignments. Please review application material requirements carefully to ensure successful submission. Your application will not be considered until all required documents are received. The teaching assignment may be at the Valencia or Canyon Country campus, or other college teaching locations.
Part‑time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part‑time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. Minimum Requirements
Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in Emergency Medical Technologies (EMT).
OR – Any bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of full‑time equivalent professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment;
OR – Any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
AND – Shall be qualified by education and experience with a minimum of forty (40) hours of teaching methodology instruction in areas related to instructional development, instructional methodology, materials, and evaluation of instruction (See Section IV.
D. 1-5 of this reference) and shall meet the following additional qualifications:
- Be a Physician, Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant, or a Paramedic currently licensed in California or an advanced EMT (AEMT) or EMT who is currently certified in California.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years of academic or clinical experience in the practice of emergency medicine or prehospital care in the last five (5) years.

Educational methodology
Any one of the following shall fulfill the requirement of being qualified by education and experience in methods, materials, and evaluation of instruction. (Must be documented by at least forty (40) hours in teaching methodology).
Four (4) semester units of upper‑division credit in educational materials, methods, and curriculum development, or equivalent.
ii. California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) “Instructor I and II.”
iv. National Fire Academy’s “Fire Service Instructional Methodology Course”, or equivalent.
vi. National Association of EMS Educators “EMS Instructor Course”.
vi. Courses which meet the U.S. Department of Transportation/National Highway Traffic Safety 2002 Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors.
Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening), as well as Saturday classes. Adjunct Salary Rate:
