Description/Duties And Responsibilities The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for a part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) Arts Marketing Assistant in the Arts and Events division of the Economic Development department. This position will assist in the marketing of Arts programming and offerings.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Regularly updates the website using Word Press
- Regularly updates the online events calendar through the Localist platform
- Reviews, proofreads, and edits a wide range of content, including articles, event listings, and arts-related programs and information
- Prepares weekly event listings and coordinates corresponding social media content
- Assists in identifying opportunities to support growth and engagement across social media platforms
- Contributes to and regularly updates social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Flickr
- Photographs and develops creative content to support news articles, galleries, and arts-related events
- Monitors and engages with social media outlets (pages, sites, blogs, etc.) daily, including posting and responding as appropriate
- Coordinates with Arts Education providers to update Arts Education information
- Assists with annual events
- Attends meetings and training sessions
- Collaborates with other program areas, as needed
- Performs other activities and duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of experience, providing support in content creation, arts, events communications, marketing, or a closely related area
- Experience working with the public and events is highly desirable
- Possession of a valid Class C California driver license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation to carry out job-related essential functions may be required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and positively (both orally and in writing)
- Ability to drive a vehicle and travel to various city facilities and event sites
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team
- Ability to assist with updating website content and social media posts
- Ability to proofread and edit written materials for clarity and accuracy
- Ability to foster effective working relationships with all levels of staff and the community
- Strong social media skills, including proficient use of Facebook and Instagram
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize daily workload, coordinate multiple projects, and meet time-sensitive deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills with both internal and external customers
- Ability to demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented attitude
- Ability to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends)
- Ability to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds or more
