Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Core Firmware Manager for Qualcomm’s Custom CPUs to lead a global team responsible for development of embedded software and firmware platforms. In addition to being hands‑on, this role will oversee a talented group of engineers with extensive background in ensuring long‑term scalability, stability, debug‑ability and lifecycle support across multiple product verticals. The successful candidate will ensure seamless coordination across regions and functions, while enabling innovation, reducing operational risks, and improving overall quality & customer satisfaction.

You will collaborate internally to help define and implement embedded firmware to build platforms that manage the power and performance for the CPU subsystem within Qualcomm SoCs across many product verticals. You will also participate in various other aspects of management controller firmware development, including power management, boot, RAS, debug, security and runtime services.

In this leadership role, you will be working closely both with the SoC / hardware and firmware validation teams. You will have an opportunity to engage with third parties on enablement of new platforms, as well as providing input to our SoC and platform architects on future designs.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Drive the complete firmware development lifecycle through design, development, debug and verification, in pre‑silicon and post‑silicon environments.
  • Lead the development of core firmware stack, utilizing an RTOS, that provides the essential services and frameworks to various algorithms running on the power management controller.
  • Actively engage with open‑source communities to contribute support for processor architectures, device drivers, and firmware features.
  • Collaborate with team members and other teams on silicon and platform bring‑up, debug and diagnostics.
  • Assist in identifying skills requirements and in hiring engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 4+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
  • 15+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with Database Management Software.
  • 4+ years of experience with API.
  • 3+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above).
  • 1+ year of work experience with Git, Perforce, or Source Code Management System.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leverages expert software knowledge and experience to design, develop, create, modify, and validate highly critical embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs.
  • Analyzes user needs, software requirements, and time and cost constraints to design and customize highly sophisticated software for optimal operational efficiency.
