Research Scientist in Machine Learning on Fujitsu’s Self‑Improving Machine Learning team. The team focuses on developing algorithms that improve themselves, enabling greater performance with less data across vision and text tasks.

About the RoleWe seek researchers to pioneer and prototype AI algorithms that can autonomously enhance themselves. The role involves working on vision and text tasks, publishing research, and aiding deployment to real‑world projects for sustainability.
EligibilityOnly candidates with a PhD (or close to completion) in machine learning, computer science, neuroscience, mathematics, statistics, physics, or related fields will be considered.
Job Responsibilities- Research and prototype ML algorithms that automatically improve themselves for vision and text tasks.
- Demonstrate algorithmic improvements on increasingly challenging tasks with lower data requirements.
- Write high‑quality, scalable Python code.
- Design and conduct experiments to explore and validate novel AI methodologies.
- Publish research papers and present at conferences, workshops, and seminars.
- Develop tools and strategies to deploy research in projects toward building a sustainable world.
- Apply ML research to real‑world applications.
- PhD (or close to completion) in an applicable field.
- Track record of publishing or delivering significant research contributions.
- Ability to own and pursue a long‑running research agenda.
- Experience with deep‑learning libraries (PyTorch, Tensor Flow, Jax).
- Strong collaboration skills within large research teams and with deployment stakeholders.
- Experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
- Experience in mentoring research teams.
- Experience creating high‑performance deep‑learning implementations.
