Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Quality Engineering
Key Responsibilities Environmental Compliance
- Supports insurance of compliance with global environmental regulations including RoHS, REACH, WEEE, Waste Framework Directive (WFD), PFAS, Prop 65, and TSCA.
- Maintain and control environmental compliance documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and currency.
- Create, review, and update product material declarations to support new product introductions and regulatory changes.
- Develop timely responses to customer and regulatory inquiries regarding material content and hazardous substance compliance.
- Collaborate with third‑party service providers to manage and validate compliance data.
- Partner with internal teams and suppliers to obtain and validate product, sub‑assembly, and component material data.
- Prepare and submit FDA/CDRH reports for new products, product modifications, and manufacturing location changes.
- Manage FDA accession numbers and ensure accurate linkage to product records.
- Compile, validate, and submit the annual FDA report covering applicable Coherent products worldwide.
- Conduct supplier risk assessments covering strategic, financial, geopolitical, capacity, logistics, cybersecurity, and regulatory risks.
- Monitor emerging regulations, sanctions, and trade/export restrictions impacting the supply base.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to develop and execute risk mitigation and business continuity plans.
- Generate risk alerts and ensure timely escalation and action.
- Support procurement’s supplier risk management strategy with compliance and predictive risk insights.
- Support customer surveys and external compliance platforms (e.g., Integrity Next, Eco Vadis).

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:
5 years of industry experience in RoHS, REACH, and related environmental regulations. Experience in the laser, computer, telecommunications, optics, or similar technology industries is a plus.
