Materials Engineer, Process Engineer
Akkodis is seeking an Electrical Engineer II for a Contract with a client in Santa Clara, CA
. The position focuses on designing next‑generation silicon anode materials and performing comprehensive characterization and failure analysis on cells.
Rate Range: $50/hour to $53/hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
- Conducting in‑depth materials characterization and failure analysis (FA) on silicon anode materials and lithium‑ion battery cells using tools such as SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, and Raman.
- Designing, developing, and optimizing advanced silicon anode materials while evaluating electrochemical performance, degradation modes, and material‑interface behavior.
- Collaborating with internal R&D teams and external partners to scale up promising materials, improve processes, and support cell design and prototyping efforts.
- Executing electrochemical testing protocols, analyzing performance data, and generating technical reports with actionable insights for material improvements.
- Supporting cell design, fabrication, and testing workflows by integrating materials innovations into lab‑scale and pilot‑scale battery builds.
- Working cross‑functionally with materials science, chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, drive problem‑solving, and advance next‑generation battery technologies.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant industry or academic research experience in battery materials, electrochemistry, or advanced materials characterization.
- Hands‑on expertise with materials characterization tools such as SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, and Raman, along with strong understanding of electrochemical performance metrics and degradation mechanisms.
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to scale materials, prototype battery cells, and solve complex materials‑interface challenges in fast‑paced R&D environments.

Pay Details$50.00 to $53.00 per hour
