Senior Functional Safety Manager - Autonomous Vehicles

We are seeking a Functional Safety Manager to guide safety efforts for developing the next generation of safe, AI-powered autonomous driving systems.

In this role, you will focus on solving hard cross-disciplinary problems across AI, computer vision, software architecture, planning and control, software / hardware interactions, and be part of a team that covers the entire autonomous driving system and coordinates development teams across NVIDIA.

• Leading execution of safety engineering processes to meet ISO 26262, ISO 21448 and ISO 8800 standards, with timely safety case completion

• Promoting a positive safety culture and deployment of organizational processes by providing training, mentoring and tailoring

• Acting as the primary point of contact for all safety related concerns during development and actively working to resolve identified issues

• Collaborating with OEM and Tier1 partners to ensure that all aspects of the joint safety engineering development are carried out on time and according to plan

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred

• At least 8 years of proven experience in automotive development and integration for safety related systems

• Possess a deep understanding of functional safety and development processes needed to follow the ISO 26262 functional safety standard

• A working knowledge of quality systems and tools, such as Automotive SPICE and IATF 16949

• Application of system safety methodologies & practices, including FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, CPA

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• We look for strong engineers who thrives working in teams, and working across multiple domains

• Experience leading safety management efforts for production of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) or autonomous vehicle systems

• Experience in the application of ISO 21488 (SOTIF) in combination with functional safety

• Solid understanding of V&V of complex safety-critical system

• Software development and/or machine learning experience.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 168,000 USD - 258,750 USD for Level 4, and 200,000 USD - 322,000 USD for Level 5.
