Seeking a Component Engineer specializing in memory to support lifecycle management, qualification, and supply assurance across its networking hardware portfolio. This is a central engineering role that operates across multiple product teams rather than a product-specific design position. The role focuses on managing the intersection of long networking product life cycles with shorter memory component life cycles (DRAM, SRAM, NAND, NOR), requiring ongoing requalification, alternate component identification, and supply risk mitigation.
The ideal candidate will come from the networking industry and have prior experience as a component or commodity engineer supporting multiple engineering teams, influencing design and supply decisions, and ensuring sustainable component strategies across a broad hardware environment.
- Component engineering experience within networking hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or similar OEM environment)
- Central engineering exposure supporting multiple product teams rather than a single product line
- Memory component experience (DRAM, SRAM, NAND, NOR) with the ability to support qualification and lifecycle decisions
- Lifecycle management experience
, including EOL, requalification, and alternate component identification - Cross-functional collaboration with design, reliability, supply chain, and software engineering teams
- Ability to influence without authority and drive engineering teams to support risk mitigation and qualification efforts
- Technical understanding of electronic components sufficient to review datasheets and assess fit for production
- Experience supporting components with short life cycles inside products with long life cycles
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field
- Support qualification, requalification, and lifecycle management of memory components across multiple networking products
- Partner with design, reliability, software, and supply chain teams to identify sustainable component solutions
- Drive alternate part identification and qualification to mitigate supply risk and obsolescence
- Review component datasheets and assess performance, compatibility, and availability
- Influence engineering teams to support redesigns and qualification work when required for lifecycle or supply continuity
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to maintain supply assurance
- Support documentation and change workflows associated with component updates and lifecycle transitions
