Overview

The Haptic Product Design Engineer will serve as the primary technical contact for haptic products, supporting development from concept through mass production. This role collaborates closely with customer engineering teams and internal cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing, and quality to meet product specifications and timelines. The position operates within a project-based, matrixed organizational structure and may span multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and marketing teams—as well as customers—to develop and optimize haptic solutions for consumer electronics.
  • Serve as the technical interface between US-based customers and Asia-based design and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle (NPI to mass production).
  • Conduct regular on-site customer visits to present technical reports, review samples, and resolve development issues to ensure timely builds.
  • Provide design recommendations and support throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Analyze product data and test results; recommend design improvements.
  • Partner with R&D and engineering teams to meet customer and manufacturing requirements.
  • Lead mechanical design reviews, including tolerance analysis, FEA, DFM, tooling, assembly flow, and fixture considerations.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to meet design and cost targets.
  • Facilitate international calls and support key customer visits to manufacturing sites.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Acoustics, Audio Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in haptic device design, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Strong background in electromagnetic assembly design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with metal stamping, material selection, tolerance analysis, and precision module design, injection molding as a plus.
  • Familiarity with audio test systems.
  • Proficiency in UG NX (or Creo), or equivalent and FEA tools.
  • Ability to support electrical-mechanical integration with R&D teams.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; experience in project planning and technical documentation.
  • Experience with high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing preferred.
  • Familiarity with sourcing or production in China preferred.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 25%.
  • Fluent in conversational Mandarin is highly desired.
  • Base pay range for this role is between $ and $ annually; pay depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
