Job Description & How to Apply Below

Who we are

Odyssey is an AI lab pioneering general‑purpose world models—a new form of audio‑visual intelligence. These models will power the next generation of gaming, education, companionship, simulation, and advertising, and unlock entirely new consumer, enterprise, and intelligence applications.

What we’re looking for

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will be the direct link with our initial API customers, guiding them from prototype through to production as they build on Odyssey’s models. You will tackle novel problems on the fly, design solutions that highlight new model features, and maintain our commitment to quality. You will combine deep technical skill with sharp customer insight, architecting integrations, rapidly scoping new applications, and channeling structured feedback into Odyssey’s product and engineering roadmap.

Your core mission is to accelerate commercialization.

What you’ll do
  • Customer Engineering & Deployment

    • Embed with API customers to help design, prototype, and launch experiences using Odyssey’s models.

    • Architect integrations, build reference implementations, and guide customers through the ambiguity of early API versions.

    • Translate high‑level concepts or vague customer needs into concrete technical paths, often in real‑time.

  • Accelerate API Adoption & Growth

    • Develop creative solutions that showcase Odyssey’s potential and surface new applications customers haven’t yet considered.

    • Identify common customer patterns and propose reusable examples, SDK improvements, and documentation updates.

    • Support early adopters in deploying production‑grade systems, eliminating friction wherever possible.

  • Product Feedback & Roadmap Influence

    • Provide structured, high‑signal product and model feedback to Engineering, ensuring the roadmap balances quick wins with strategic opportunities.

    • Help customers understand current limitations while also gathering concrete requirements for future capabilities.

    • Flag significant customer trends and identify when there is a risk of over‑rotating to a single partner’s requests.

  • Internal Collaboration

    • Work closely with Product, Research, and Engineering to influence feature prioritization, reliability efforts, and developer tooling.

    • Maintain a high technical bar for all integrations touching Odyssey infrastructure, model inference paths, and the overall developer experience.

    • Contribute directly to prototypes, sample code, and internal tooling that expand customer build potential.

Who you are
  • Technically Strong:
You hold a high bar for customer‑facing systems and build durable, reliable solutions.

  • Customer‑Oriented Engineer:
You enjoy talking to customers as much as you enjoy solving their technical problems.

  • Bias for Action:
You know when to ship quickly and when to involve specialized Engineering or Product teams.

  • Creative & Exploratory:
You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and uncovering new applications in real time.

  • Product Thinker:
You spot patterns, scope net‑new applications, and identify strategic commercial opportunities.

  • Competitive & Driven:
You are motivated by customer success, growth, and unlocking full value across every partner account.

  • Strong engineering foundation (software, ML systems, applied ML, or backend focus).

  • Prior experience in customer‑facing engineering roles (e.g., solutions engineering, deployed engineering, sales engineering, applied research engineering).

  • Able to rapidly grasp complex ML systems and communicate them clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Proven experience integrating APIs, building prototypes quickly, and shipping production‑grade software.

  • Comfortable working in dynamic environments where the product surface area is frequently evolving.
