System Engineer IA leading life sciences organization is developing a next‑generation, nanopore‑based single‑molecule DNA sequencing platform focused on enabling affordable and accessible clinical genetic testing.
The System Engineer I will work at the intersection of systems engineering, microfluidics, biochemistry, and data analysis. This role is responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments on a high‑throughput sequencing platform, with a strong emphasis on system robustness, microfluidic device performance, and data‑driven optimization.
Key Responsibilities- Execute and document experimental methods, materials, and results with precision and consistency.
- Develop deep expertise in the operation of a high‑throughput sequencing system.
- Design, implement, and analyze experiments involving microfluidic device processes and operating parameters.
- Investigate system‑level failures and perform troubleshooting across devices, instrumentation, software, and reagents.
- Debug and optimize system performance to improve reliability and scalability.
- Apply statistical methods, design of experiments (DOE), and process monitoring techniques.
- Communicate experimental results clearly, with actionable insights and recommendations.
- 0–5 years of relevant industry experience, with 2+ years preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- Strong foundational knowledge in molecular biology, biochemistry, microfluidics, or materials science.
- Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and technical reporting.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as JMP.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and cross‑functional communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and effective in team‑based environments.
