Principal Hardware Engineer, Advanced Networking Systems

As a Principal Hardware Engineer, you will guide the creation of high performance networking hardware from concept through production. You will shape system architecture, oversee critical design decisions, and partner with cross functional teams to deliver robust, efficient, and scalable hardware platforms. Your work will influence product direction and will help define the future of high speed data movement and optical communication within demanding operational environments.

This role offers broad technical ownership and the chance to mentor emerging engineers while ensuring that systems evolve successfully throughout their lifecycle.

• Create system level architecture and define foundational design principles for new hardware platforms.
• Develop and validate both digital and analog board level circuits with a focus on reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
• Research, evaluate, and introduce new optical communication technologies suited for high bandwidth applications.
• Lead conceptual design, component evaluation, simulation, schematic development, and provide layout guidance for printed circuit boards.
• Translate product requirements into concrete system designs through close collaboration with product leadership.
• Oversee prototype builds in partnership with manufacturing teams and external design or production partners.
• Participate in environmental testing and support the transition of hardware from engineering into full scale production.
• Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and support to junior engineers.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. A master's degree is preferred.
• Fifteen or more years of experience designing hardware for networking, communications, or high speed data systems. Experience with Broadcom or Marvell technologies is highly advantageous.
• Extensive background in high speed board design at one hundred gigabit rates, including signal integrity and power integrity expertise.
• Hands on experience creating low noise and high efficiency power regulation circuits for complex systems.
• Strong debugging and verification skills at the board level with proficiency in oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic instruments.
• Experience writing technical specifications, validation plans, and procedures for testing and qualification.
