About the Position

Position Title:

Part‑Time Folk Dance Instructor (Pool)

Campus:
Mission College, Santa Clara, CA

Part‑time Associate Faculty Pool position. Teaching assignments may include lecture‑discussion courses during day, evening, or Saturday and/or online/distance education formats as needed during Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is prorated based on a percentage of workload up to 67% of a full‑time load, with an initial hiring range of $38,464–$55,582 per semester, based on academic achievement and relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two (2) years of related professional experience; OR
  • Any associate’s degree and six (6) years of related professional experience; OR
  • A valid California Community College Instructor’s Credential in the discipline; OR
  • The equivalent of the above.

Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds, including socio‑economic, ethnic, religious, cultural, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Desired Qualifications

Experience teaching a variety of folk dance classes at the community college level.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for assigned courses, including preparation, student evaluation, consultation, and maintenance of currency in the subject.
  • Maintain accurate class records, submit attendance rosters and grade reports, and follow course outlines.
  • Offer weekly office hours (.5 hour per section).
  • Enforce district and college regulations, policies, and programs.
  • Provide each student with a written syllabus at course start, per Faculty Handbook.
  • Refer students to appropriate college services.
  • Offer advice on successful achievement in the area of expertise.
  • Work cooperatively and foster a positive, respectful environment free from harassment, prejudice, and bias.
Additional Duties

Assist with any ad‑hoc tasks assigned by department or institution as needed.
