Emergency Veterinary Technician, Advanced Veterinary Specialists

At Advanced Veterinary Specialists, our medical staff consists of board‑certified specialists in surgery, oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, and dentistry, alongside a skilled and experienced group of emergency veterinarians. We are seeking a full‑time day/swing shift Veterinary Technician to join the ER team.

• Triage and prioritize incoming patients
• Stabilize patients in critical condition
• Assist with diagnostic procedures
• Administer medications and fluids
• Provide wound care and post‑surgical support
• Monitor vital signs and report abnormalities
• Assist during surgeries and emergency procedures
• Communicate with pet owners
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Ensure cleanliness and sanitization
• Educate pet owners on aftercare
• Collaborate with the veterinary team
• Stay updated through continuing education
• Offer compassion and emotional support to patients and owners

Compensation range: $28.00 – $35.00 hourly plus $2.00 per hour differentials for any hours worked between 6 pm–6 am. $1,000 sign‑on bonus for new full‑time ER employees.

• High school diploma
• 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry required; ER experience preferred
• Current and valid RVT license in the state of CA is preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
• Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position‑related calculations
• Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60 days of hire or transfer into this role (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA‑RVT license)

• Weekend flexibility is required
