Description
The Community Impact Manager collaborates with the Director of Programs & Partnerships to plan, organize, and oversee United Way of Santa Barbara County’s Community Impact programs. This role provides operational and program quality and learning leadership for academic achievement, expanded learning, and enrichment initiatives, as well as financial security programs serving families and community members.
The Community Impact Manager plans, coordinates, and monitors internal and external program operations, learning and enrichment practices, curriculum implementation, staffing, data, and communications across multiple partner sites. The position supervises program staff and volunteers, supports professional development, ensures compliance with Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP), district, and funder requirements, and serves as a key liaison among United Way, school districts, community partners, and families to support positive outcomes, particularly for underserved children and families.
Programs under the management of this position include, but are not limited to, Fun in the Sun (FITS), Bridge the Break (BTB), United Learning Centers (ULC), Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), Holiday Gift Drive, Imagination Library, and other initiatives as assigned.
Requirements Program Leadership, Operations & Program Quality- Plan, organize, evolve, grow, and oversee the implementation of Community Impact programs, including academic achievement, expanded learning, enrichment, and financial security initiatives.
- Coordinate the successful execution of program plans and timelines, ensuring activities are completed on schedule and aligned with program goals, budgets, and funder requirements.
- Oversee day-to-day program operations across multiple partner sites, including schedules, offsite procedures, behavior management systems, and staff and student routines.
- Support high-quality learning and enrichment practices by overseeing curriculum implementation and program activities aligned with best practices and ELOP expectations.
- Analyze enrollment, attendance, and participation data to inform program planning, staffing decisions, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Identify programmatic issues, risks, and operational challenges and elevate them to the Director of Programs & Partnerships to support timely resolution.
- Directly supervise and support program staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and mission-aligned work environment.
- Collaborate with the Director of Programs & Partnerships to recruit, onboard, and retain seasonal, contracted, and volunteer program staff.
- Provide guidance and supervision to the Community Impact Coordinator to support the successful implementation of assigned projects and initiatives.
- Monitor staff performance and program implementation to ensure compliance with established standards, procedures, and program expectations.
- Support and lead professional development and training opportunities to strengthen staff understanding of program practices, policies, safety requirements, and compliance expectations.
- Assist in the development and management of program budgets, including expense tracking, invoicing, and reconciliation.
- Monitor day-to-day program expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and funding limitations.
- Support grant and contract management by maintaining accurate program data, records, and documentation and meeting reporting deadlines.
- Assist with program-related contracts and MOUs in coordination with the Director of Programs & Partnerships.
- Serve as a key liaison with school districts, community partners, public and private agencies, and program sites to support effective coordination, communication, and program implementation.
- Oversee student and family recruitment and enrollment processes to meet participation targets and contractual requirements.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with families, partners, sponsors, and donors to support program success and sustainability.
- Collaborate with marketing staff to support accurate and consistent program messaging across print and digital platforms.
- Ensure that program facilities and surrounding grounds are safe, secure, and adequate to meet program needs.
- Monitor site conditions and operational practices to ensure compliance with safety standards, licensing requirements, and partner expectations.
- Maintain accurate program records and contribute to internal reporting and evaluation efforts.
- Support continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making and feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of United Way’s Community Impact goals.
