Role This is a field-based role. Candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. This geography covers Santa Barbara, Thousand Oaks, Templeton, Paso Robles, and the surrounding areas. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, drive sales performance, and manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts. Build strong customer relationships and a customer needs solving capability to maximize short and long term sales performance, placing the patient at the center of efforts and operating within Abb Vie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed set objectives.
  • Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections and concerns to advance calls to action and close on sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and expectations to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, and disease/product knowledge; share market intelligence with in-field teams, brand team, and sales management to align strategy and execution.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
  • Relevant industry experience required; in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five years of experience with three or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred, and a high school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrates in-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking; ability to operate in a matrix environment; offers innovative ideas to maximize opportunities.
  • Proven track record of selling success and solid presentation skills. Adapts to customer style and behavior; provides impactful ideas for the organization and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible team resource; builds collaborative partnerships; leads by example with positive behaviors and peer coaching.
  • Documented leadership and increased responsibility across district, region, or organization; uses findings to develop sales strategies.
  • Preferred:
    Proven sales performance in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing;
    English language proficiency verbally and in writing.
  • Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements to gain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proof, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses. You are responsible for satisfying all requirements with Abb Vie providing assistance as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen; capable of driving a personal vehicle or company car; may involve operation of other equipment.

The compensation range reflects base pay and may be adjusted based on geographic location and other factors. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement plans. This position is eligible for short-term incentive programs. The details of compensation are determined by the company in its sole discretion.
