What You Can Expect
As our Commissioning Engineer Sr Advisor, you will work within a cross‑functional team dedicated to building and advancing this new internal business. In this dynamic, fast‑growing environment, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility start‑up, commissioning, testing, and handover to operations for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This position can sit in Houston, TX;

Chicago, IL;
Bay Area, CA reporting to the Commissioning Director of ENGIE Flex Gen Nor Am—Broad View.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including ENGIE personnel, EPC contractors, major equipment vendor Technical Field Advisors, consulting engineers, and other specialist resources in compliance with all applicable contracts, permits, and project requirements
- Provide technical supervision of Broad View commissioning activities to transition systems into safe, stable, and reliable operations by identifying all required start‑up, commissioning, and testing activities
- Execute the Commissioning Plan and provide input to project design and execution plans to ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with budget and schedule objectives
- Review BESS project permits, agreements, licenses, registrations, and contracts (including ISO and TSP requirements) to identify required data collection, activities, and documentation during commissioning
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Engineering, Science, or Technology; or an equivalent combination of progressive, hands‑on commissioning, project execution, or operations experience supported by relevant professional training or certifications
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the development, design, and construction of Solar PV, microgrids, complex renewables, or electrical projects, including direct involvement in the commissioning phase
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams during the commissioning of BESS or other complex electrical projects
- Proficiency with technical software and systems, including SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and other specialized applications, as well as standard office tools such as MS Office, Teams, SharePoint, and MS Project
- Practical experience with additional platforms such as ArcGIS, Green
IT, SAP, and Procore to support project execution and commissioning activities
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- Must be available to travel domestically 30% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Salary Range: $135,000 – $206,885 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
