As a Test Technician, you are responsible for the alignment, calibration, and testing of NanoIR microscopes. The NanoIR system is a combination of an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) with a tunable infrared laser. Each instrument is typically assembled to a specific customer order. Your responsibilities include verifying compliance with system specifications, performing IR laser alignment procedures, AFM calibrations, and performance verification.
You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and perform on‑spot repairs to ensure orders are shipped on time. You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Hardware and Software Engineering, and Applications Engineering to troubleshoot and improve product quality and processes, and you will actively update testing documentation to address all potential quality issues.
- QC/QA of AFM, IR laser and combined AFM/IR microscopes
- Complete standardized tests on AFM/IR systems
- Calibration and rework of products to ensure on‑time completion of customer orders
- Troubleshoot systems electronically and mechanically during testing
- Interface with manufacturing, application and R&D teams for microscope performance verification
- Collaborate with assemblers and manufacturing engineers to correct and improve procedures
- Prepare microscopes for shipment to customers
- Participate in new product release teams
- Conduct training on applicable test and calibration procedures
- Initiate IBQ / NCMRs as necessary
- Typically 2–4 years of related experience in a manufacturing testing environment. A B.S. in Engineering, Physics or Math OR 2+ years of experience with an AA in an electro/mechanical field is preferred.
- Background in scanning probe/atomic force microscopy or FTIR preferred
- Mechanical design and electronics aptitude
- Detail‑oriented self‑starter attitude
- Ability to excel in a fast‑paced customer‑focused team environment
- Previous mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics
- Must be able to work standing, sitting and walking for most of a scheduled shift
- Must be able to push a cart holding up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- May be asked to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Job requires frequent bending, stooping and kneeling
At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full‑time position is between $21/hr and $36.50/hr and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
