Position: Theatre Production Specialist 2 ()

Salary: Budgeted $29.50–$31.00/hr ($28.88–$49.76/hr actual).
Location: Kerr Hall – 1128.
Hours: Mon–Fri 8 am–11 pm, variable; weekends required.

Brief Summary Of

Job Duties

Provides support for events by assisting with client needs, staffing, and advice on audio‑visual media. Sets up all aspects of event including audio, video, computer, projection, and lighting equipment. Serves as additional staffing for event support in all areas of Instructional Development/AAIT including IV Theaters, Campbell Hall, and the Interactive Learning Pavilion. Coordinates with other staff to ensure all elements are in place for scheduled events.

Works with the department and campus network administrators to ensure network connectivity, as needed, for events. Assists Video Services staff with audio, video, computer display and lighting elements of video production. Works with repair and maintenance staff to ensure equipment is working properly and reliably. Supervises and trains student assistants in the field to support events. Meets with clients and staff to confirm schedules and client requirements.

Advises Instructional Development/AAIT staff on equipment purchases.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely communication with faculty, student groups, and staff to establish event timelines and address client needs.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including staffing, equipment setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Operate and train student event staff on audio‑visual and lighting equipment.
  • Ensure connectivity and technical support for events.
  • Supervise, schedule, and train student staff; review payroll.
  • Advising on equipment purchases and resource allocation.
  • Assist with public events across Instructional Development’s classroom services units.
  • Maintain equipment through cooperation with maintenance staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or 1–3 years of related experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask with demanding time frames.
  • Proven track record of high‑level performance across various team dynamics.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in applying critical‑thinking skills.
  • Professional experience in delivering exemplary customer service and managing relationships.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadlines and solve problems under pressure.
Special Conditions Of Employment
  • Mostly night and weekend work; flexible schedule based on event needs.
  • Availability for events throughout the day, afternoon, night, and weekend.
  • Must pass a satisfactory criminal background check.
