Position Overview

Position Title: Theater Production Specialist 2 (006144)

Department: Instructional Development, Academic Affairs Information Technology (AAIT), University of California, Santa Barbara

Location: Kerr Hall – 1128, UCSB Campus

Salary Range: $29.50 to $31.00 /hr (budgeted); $28.88 to $49.76 /hr (full range)

Job Summary

Supports university events by providing staffing, audio‑visual, lighting, and computer equipment solutions, coordinating logistics, and supervising student assistants.

Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with event planning, staffing, and audio‑visual media needs.
  • Set up and operate audio, video, computer, projection, and lighting equipment for events.
  • Coordinate with Instructional Development/AAIT staff to ensure all event elements are in place.
  • Work with network administrators to provide connectivity for events.
  • Assist Video Services staff with audio‑visual elements of video production.
  • Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs to ensure reliability.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule student assistants for event support.
  • Confirm event schedules and client requirements with clients and staff.
  • Advise on equipment purchases and recommend solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field or 1–3 years of equivalent experience/training.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
  • Track record of high‑level performance in diverse team roles.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Professional experience delivering exceptional customer service and relationship management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience working under deadlines and pressure.
Special Conditions of Employment
  • Flexible schedule with frequent evenings, nights, weekends, and occasional daytime events.
  • Requires satisfactory criminal history background check.
