Job Overview
The Development Assistant serves as the primary initial contact for six Directors of Development in the Engineering and the Sciences Development Office. The role provides essential administrative and financial support, as well as analytical, planning, and communication services, to sustain a complex fundraising program and support the research mission of the university.
Responsibilities
• Assist Directors with analysis, planning, and implementation of fundraising strategies for the College of Engineering and Division of Science.
• Prepare and update donor and prospect profiles, analyze gift data from the Advance database, and produce comprehensive management reports for Directors.
• Communicate with donors, prospects, volunteers, trustees, faculty, staff, and community leaders; represent the Office in Directors’ absences.
• Handle confidential, high‑profile, and time‑sensitive matters involving senior administrators and the donor community.
• Coordinate donor cultivation and recognition events, including logistics, room reservations, catering, and vendor correspondence.
• Provide administrative and financial support: schedule calendars, arrange travel, process university travel and expense forms, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with university policies and audit requirements.
• Prepare executive‑level correspondence, background data, and reports for Directors’ meetings with senior administrators and faculty.
• Assist in planning and hosting events and receptions both on and off campus.
• Maintain donor files and produce reports, letters, and memos to aid fundraising efforts.
Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent computer skills: proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Suite, and ability to quickly learn additional software.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills that foster positive relationships with diverse populations.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under tight and shifting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in a busy office or work environment.
• Typing speed of 64 words per minute or higher.
• High level of initiative, creativity, and energy.
