Tax Staff - Public

Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Tax Staff member to join our dynamic team in Santa Barbara, California. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing various types of tax returns and providing accounting support to ensure compliance and accuracy. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base, including small businesses and high-net-worth individuals, while gaining exposure to sophisticated financial scenarios.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns with precision and adherence to current regulations.

- Conduct thorough reviews of financial records and source documents to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.

- Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including the creation and adjustment of journal entries.

- Utilize software platforms such as Quick Books, Quick Books Online, and Sage to support client needs.

- Maintain organized and detailed work papers to facilitate internal audits and reviews.

- Respond to client inquiries regarding tax filings and documentation needs in a meticulous manner.

- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of all tax-related tasks.

- Assist in implementing best practices for tax preparation and accounting processes.

- Occasionally provide guidance to clients on tax-related matters and follow up as needed. Requirements - At least 5 years of experience preparing federal income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.

- Proficiency with accounting software such as Quick Books, Sage, and other related platforms.

- Familiarity with working directly with small businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all tasks.

- CPA or EA designation preferred, or actively pursuing certification.

- Experience with CCH Pro System Fx or similar tax preparation software is a plus.

- Knowledge of real estate and trust tax preparation is highly desirable.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
