Tax Staff - Public

Description We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Tax Staff member to join our dynamic team in Santa Barbara, California. In this role, you will manage a variety of tax-related tasks, including preparing returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts. You will also provide accounting support and collaborate with clients to ensure compliance and high-quality service.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts with accuracy and attention to detail.

- Ensure all tax filings comply with current regulations and laws.

- Handle full-cycle accounting tasks, including creating and reviewing adjusting journal entries.

- Utilize software such as Quick Books, Quick Books Online, and Sage to manage client accounts effectively.

- Examine client financial records and source documents, identifying and addressing inconsistencies.

- Maintain organized and thorough work papers to support internal review processes.

- Provide support for client inquiries and follow up with necessary documentation.

- Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional service to small businesses and high-net-worth clients.

- Assist in the implementation and use of tax-related systems, such as CCH Pro System Fx.

- Stay updated on tax laws and industry changes to ensure best practices. Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal income tax preparation.

- Proficiency in Quick Books, Sage, and related accounting software.

- Demonstrated ability to work with small businesses and high-net-worth individuals.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- CPA or EA designation preferred, or actively pursuing certification.

- Familiarity with CCH Axcess Suite is a plus.

- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
