Senior Program Leader; Aquatics - Lifeguard

This is a seasonal, part-time position. The assignment at a City pool will end in September 2023. Incumbents may work 19 - 40 hours per week, with schedules to be determined. The recruitment remains open until further notice and may close at any time. Bilingual pay is an additional $1.01/hr., if applicable.

Under general supervision, the candidate will monitor pool use, supervise patrons and programs, patrol facilities, enforce safety rules, respond to emergencies, administer first aid, assist in aquatics competitions, perform clerical duties, and participate in team activities.

Requirements include having completed at least two years of high school, being at least 16 years old, and possessing current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR, and First Aid certifications. If not possessed, the City may assist in obtaining these during the hiring process. Minors must submit a work permit prior to hire.

Knowledge of safety guidelines and swim techniques is required. Ability to work with diverse age groups, communicate effectively in English, handle emergencies, and work irregular hours including weekends, holidays, days, and evenings is essential. Bilingual fluency in English, Spanish, and Sign Language is highly desirable.
