Role DescriptionThis is a part‑time on‑site role for a Certified Beer Server. Responsibilities include greeting customers recommending beers, serving beers, maintaining a clean and organized taproom, educating customers about beer styles, keeping accurate inventory records, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications- Customer Service and Communication skills
- Knowledge of different beer styles and brewing processes
- Experience in serving beverages and maintaining inventory records
- Health and Safety Compliance awareness
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- A passion for craft beer and the brewing industry
- Certified Beer Server certification required
- Cicerone Certified‑LV.1 is a plus
- Experience in brewing operations, packaging, and customer service
- Knowledge of beer production processes and equipment
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods
- Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Interest in craft beer and a willingness to learn
- Food safety certification is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Outgoing and engaging personality
- Proactive at identifying and completing work needs
- Great spoken and written communication
- High‑level proficiency in point‑of‑sale systems
- Valid RBS Card certification
- Must be 21 years of age or older
Most importantly, cleaning the taproom, serving customers, and maintaining a professional environment.
- Serve a section of the bar as determined by management
- Maintain cleanliness of general and service areas
- Work effectively in a team environment
- Maintain thorough knowledge of tasting room offerings, beer production, and tasting notes
- Sell beers and occasional food truck items
- Enter and complete customers’ orders on point‑of‑sale system; accept various payments and provide change
- Provide friendly, fast service to ensure guests’ satisfaction
- Serve alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages following SOPs
- Keep the back bar and display organization, cleanliness, and aesthetic appeal
- Carry trays of beverages and plates as needed
- Prepare tables for new guests according to company standards
- Perform cleaning side work as assigned; wash and sterilize glassware
- Move, transport, and stock supplies for upcoming shifts
- Serve alcoholic beverages in compliance with all regulations
- Check guests’ identification for legal drinking age; refuse service politely to underage patrons
- Observe guest behavior after service; offer rides or seek manager help with disorderly guests
- Maintain personal appearance, uniform, and hygiene; uphold integrity and honesty in all aspects of employment
- Act as backup bartender; refill low and empty bar stocks; change kegs; clear empty glasses; replenish glass supply; restock merch; promote on social media
Skills and Abilities
- Pass beer menu exams with 80% or higher
- Basic math for cash handling; precise change giving
- Basic reading, writing, and computer skills
- Excellent knowledge of beer, production, and tasting notes
- Excellent and effective communication skills
- Multi‑task oriented
- Valid RBS Card certification
- Certified Beer Server
- LEAD certification required
- Minimum of one year of full‑service restaurant or tasting room experience
- Work evenings and weekends as required
- Adherence to workplace safety procedures
- Suggestively sell food and beverage items
- Two to five years of full‑service restaurant or tasting room bartending experience
- Level 1 Cicerone certification
The physical demands include standing all shift, frequent reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, shaking, stirring, pouring, pushing, and handling repetitive motions. Employees must lift up to 75 lbs and occasionally lift beer kegs up to 150 lbs. Work involves frequent cleaning of waterborne solutions and contact with food products.
