Job Title: Development/Events Manager

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Shift: 9-5

Pay Range: $55k-67k

Employment Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire

Overview: The Manager, Development is responsible for supporting and executing the regional community resource development strategy for Orange County. This role partners with community organizations, staff, and key volunteers to drive revenue growth and manages a diverse fundraising portfolio with an emphasis on gifts of $2,500 or more. Funding channels include individual giving, corporate sponsor ships, grants, signature events, and law-enforcement–led fundraising initiatives.

Compensation:
Full-time, benefits-eligible position. Salary range: $54,000–$67,000, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Fundraising (50%)
    • Support the development and execution of the annual regional fundraising plan aligned with organizational strategy
    • Assist with development budget planning and ensure initiatives align with approved financial parameters
    • Build and steward relationships with donors, law enforcement partners, community groups, and government agencies
    • Manage gift processing, deposits, financial tracking, and compliance with reporting requirements
    • Maintain accurate donor records, proposals, gifts, and activity tracking within the CRM system
    • Manage an assigned fundraising portfolio including individual giving, grants, sponsor ships, and special initiatives
    • Partner with senior leadership on donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
    • Support signature fundraising events with a minimum 300% return on investment (ROI)
    • Assist with development of fundraising collateral and point-of-sale or cause-related campaigns
  • Leadership & Team Management (48%)
    • Attend meetings, public speaking engagements, workshops, conferences, and program events as assigned
    • Participate in committees, task forces, and special projects with supervisory approval
    • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support fundraising and community engagement efforts
    • Supervise volunteers and interns across varying levels of responsibility
    • Support programs requiring evening, weekend, and occasional overnight commitments
  • Administration (2%)
    • Submit properly approved invoices in compliance with contracts and budget guidelines
    • Complete timecards, mileage reports, and expense reimbursements accurately and on schedule
Essential Competencies
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish goals aligned with organizational strategy
  • Manage programs or projects to completion while exercising discretion and independent judgment
  • Coordinate administrative processes related to operations and fundraising
  • Supervise volunteers, interns, and potentially hourly staff
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 3–5 years of directly related professional experience
  • Experience in program development and donor relations preferred
  • Experience managing volunteers or staff in diverse environments

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking abilities
  • Proven project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel within the region as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database/CRM systems
  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment
Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based with regular local travel. Moderate noise levels are typical. Driving within the region is required, and the ability to operate organizational or rental vehicles is necessary.
