The Role

The Lab Technician is responsible for executing benchtop formulations, supporting sensory and quality evaluations, and maintaining lab organization and compliance. This role works closely with the Senior Manager of New Product Development, Lab Coordinator, and Food Scientist to ensure accurate execution of formulations, reliable documentation, and consistent lab standards that support high-quality product development.

What You’ll Do
  • Execute benchtop formulations accurately based on provided formulas and protocols
  • Receive, organize, and maintain raw ingredients and finished products in the lab
  • Maintain detailed sensory logs for all finished products and production lots
  • Prepare, package, and ship samples for internal and external lab testing
  • Maintain and organize the ingredient library, both physically and digitally
  • Monitor shelf-life chambers and pull samples according to testing schedules
  • Ensure lab cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards
  • Support SOP development and continuous improvement of lab processes
  • Assist with general lab upkeep and documentation as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Technology, Food Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in a food, dietary supplement, or laboratory environment preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Word, Excel, Sheets, etc.)
  • Basic sensory evaluation skills (taste, smell, visual assessment)
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Comfortable lifting and transporting materials up to 45 lbs
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods as required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required)
  • No food aversions, allergies, or sensitivities (including caffeine or melatonin)
