Overview
We are an established aerospace manufacturing company specializing in precision, build-to-print components. Our inspection team plays a critical role in ensuring every part meets exacting standards before it reaches our customers. We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Inspector to support the inspection and quality of aerospace components. This role helps identify non-conformities early, supports smooth production flow, and contributes directly to on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on mechanical inspection experience, a strong understanding of GD&T, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Experience with CMM equipment (including Romer Arm) is a plus but not required. You ll work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams in a fast-paced, collaborative shop environment where your work truly matters.
- First Article, In-Process, and Final Product Inspection:
Perform detailed inspections of mechanical parts during various stages of the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. - Dimensional Checking:
Conduct hands-on physical dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools. Utilize surface plates and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for accurate dimensional verification of machined parts. - Daily Inspections:
Execute daily inspections of mechanical machined parts to verify dimensions, using surface plate methods and CMM tools. - Use of Inspection Hand Tools:
Inspect parts with micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and optical comparators. Apply surface plate inspection techniques to ensure parts meet specified tolerances and standards. - CMM Operation:
Operate CMM equipment to perform detailed inspections and generate accurate measurements of complex parts.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational education in mechanical inspection or related field is preferred.
- At least 3 years of hands-on mechanical inspection experience in QA or equivalent experience as a machinist in a machine shop is preferred.
- Proficiency in using inspection hand tools such as micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and thread gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret GD T ANSI Y14.5 engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to read and write effectively.
- Capable of standing or sitting for 8-10 hours per day and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Mechanical parts inspection experience: 3 years (preferred).
